General Manager Start-up

Our client is a holding company based in Paris that is planning the development of a European ICT-Services Group based on a network of ICT-Services start-up companies. The subsidiaries will be independent specialized companies that each have a focus on highly added value information technology services that are in high demand such as Cloud, Big Data and Analytics, Security, etc. Each company is geographically linked to one of the major economical regions in Europe.


The Group plans the creation of a handful of subsidiaries in Belgium and is therefore looking for ambitious entrepreneurs that are ready to take on the challenge of building their own company financed by the holding and coached by experienced serial entrepreneurs from the Group’s HQ.

It expects to attract enthusiastic people with strong personal values who are looking for a unique opportunity to capitalize on their acquired skills and who are willing to take the responsibility as well as the liability (as MD and CEO) to grow and lead a company and a team of employees.

The subsidiaries will be providers of specialized ICT resources and will not engage in fixed price or outsourcing projects.

Position overview

The MD/CEO will set up, develop and lead an ICT-services company in Belgium. He/she will develop the strategy of the subsidiary in line with the Group’s strategic positioning, develop a business plan, set-up the organization, hire the key contributors, lead the operations, develop clients and execute the business plan.


The CEO will report to the Board of Directors of the subsidiary.


Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Strategy: develop a market specific offering
  • Recruitment:

- Identify and select the right talent to support the company strategy

- Recruit Consultants and negotiate the contract

  • Follow-up Consultants:

- Regularly meet with the Consultants to discuss performance

- Career planning

  • Prospect:

- Chose target sectors and companies

- Identify business opportunities and develop the business

- Link to the economic world in the country

  • Client relationship management:

- Regularly visit the clients to evaluate ongoing business and discuss new opportunities

- Manage the day to day relationship with the clients, developing contacts at the most senior management level

- Facilitate the resolution of escalated clients issues; monitor the client satisfaction

  • Financial:

- Meet the sales objectives & plans, business milestones and margin target


Candidate Profile

The ideal Candidate profile will encompass:

  • A strong educational background: university degree or equivalent through experience preferably in Engineering or Business Management and consequently open to the high quality and technical standards that the Group requires
  • Experience in running a significant operation in a similar field with P&L responsibility
  • In depth knowledge of a functional area, a market segment or a geographical area where the candidate is recognized as an authority and a trusted business partner, which image should enable him/her to develop new business
  • Have a strong technical back ground in order to be very credible towards the clients and the internal teams
  • Thanks to experience and intuition, capable of identifying and selecting talent and recognizing human values; capable of detecting strong skills and assets and to grow people
  • Have an entrepreneurial approach and be fully absorbed and convinced by the business idea; willing to capitalize on his/her own capabilities and talent in order to further develop his/her career and professional growth
  • Broad leadership capabilities, taking responsibility, having a strong business attitude and finding satisfaction in assembling the parts to build a business; the candidate must be an autonomous leader, but this must be combined with a team player attitude, willing to share and exchange information
  • Having shown fast career progress in the past with exceptional demonstrated business results and willing to personally commit in a new business venture
  • Client focus: knows how to detect new opportunities; good listening and communication skills to understand the client’s challenges and strategic directions
  • Able to develop a creative and compelling offer covering the clients’ needs and capable of formulating and presenting this solution to the client
  • Strong business development skills: ability to prospect, build and maintain strong long lasting relationships with senior management
  • Focused on delivering quality work

  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English
