The client is part of an international European group which is one of the top players in the European Space technology industry, with more than 2400 employees in Germany, France, Italy, the UK, Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden.  The company designs and sells high performance telecom equipment for earth observation, satellite telemetry, command and ranging. Besides being a satellite ground equipment manufacturer, the company also designs, develops, integrates and tests telecom and security projects.---  They are working on exciting and innovative technological projects and develop the next generation satellite communication systems.


Position overview

This position is responsible for the Procurement of products, processes and services. His/Her main focus will be on the procurement of subcontracted activities mainly in the frame of ESA projects.


This position reports to the Supply Chain & Quality Manager


Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:

is/Her main focus will be on the procurement of subcontracted activities mainly in the frame of ESA projects.  His main responsibilities will be to, together with the internal customer, the Project Manager, decide on and negotiate with the right subcontractor fulfilling the requirements of a specific sub-system. He/She will be responsible for implementing the purchase solutions together with worldwide interdivisional teams (technical, commercial, production, …), keeping in mind the lowest costs of ownership and a limited number of preferred suppliers and partners. The basis location is in the Antwerp region, but short duration missions abroad are part of this challenging position.


Idea Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have an excellent English and Dutch, French and German are “nice-to-have”.  Dotted with the necessary negotiation skills, he/she will have a technical background allowing to think on technical and analytical level with engineers. With a knowledge of purchase processes, techniques and concepts, skills in putting out formal tenders for projects (e.g. ESA projects) are a plus.  He/She has or is willing to build up knowledge concerning the products and services of available solutions with respect to Space Flight projects and products.
